Fly Easy organizes the first heavy freighter flight into Porto Alegre Airport after the 2024 floods
One year after the massive floods that temporarily closed Porto Alegre Airport (POA), Fly Easy organized a flight bringing important machinery. The symbolic 2025 Easter holiday was a milestone for the airport as it marked the 1st B 747F to land there after the natural disaster.
In April 2024 severe floods hit Rio Grande do Sul state in South of Brazil. Many parts of the state were affected, including the capital Porto Alegre and its main airport (POA).
POA Airport was nearly half a year closed, being re-opened gradually from October 21st 2024. International flights restarted only on December 19th 2024.
Fly Easy team was called up for a very important mission. Our esteemed client needed to move oversized machinery parts from Seoul, Korea to Porto Alegre, Brazil. Every aspect from the flight had to be very well planned as any delay would cause a big disruption in production line.
“We had to go through a series of validations before securing the B-747F could be safely welcomed at the reopened POA Airport. Airport authority, ground handler, client, carrier, customs authorities and all the parties involved went the extra mile to make it happen. It certainly was a special Easter holiday for everyone involved in this operation”, said Kenny Schulz, Fly Easy Commercial Director.
We are ready and open-minded for any challenge!
